This bizarre blog by a former porno director is hilarious one day, offensive the next, and then he goes and surprises you with moving and poignant the day after that. Basically, it's a really angry guy who guys around Tokyo talking to homeless people, giving people the finger to strangers and photographing their reaction, or exploring the city's alternative culture of raves and costume play.
Classic posts: Action reading vs. skinhead monk - http://masamania.com/archives/2004/10/action_reading.html

Insightful, provocative, educational, well written; expectations of interest always satisfied when I visit the Sassy Lawyer's blog.

nominate Sassy Lawyer in Philippine Suburbia for the Best Philippines Blog (http//:houseonahill.net).
Posted by Anna Coloma at December 10, 2004 03:02 AM
There are many other excellent blogs in the Philippines other than the Sassy Lawyer's.
I nominate and give my vote for Manuel L. Quezon III. It is a true Filipino blog, more informative, and should be also be recognized. Mr Quezon is the grandson of former President Quezon who was a respected leader of the Philippines during WWII.

Japan Window -- Great photos and interesting commentary about life in Japan.

I nominate Adamu's Jappanica, not because he nominated me but because his blog kicks ass (without it, I would not know about the Konami School).
I will be hardpressed to choose between MasaManiA and Adamu in the final vote. I'll let the whiskey do the talking on that one.
Posted by Joe at December 9, 2004 10:01 AM
Yeah I'll probably end up voting for Masamania myself. He puts all of us to shame.
Posted by Adamu at December 9, 2004 09:47 PM

I missed out on being #1 last year by one vote. Let's see if I can win this thing this year.

Best HK Blog
I nominate Simon World (http://simonworld.mu.nu/) for best HK blog.
Posted by Infidel at December 2, 2004 06:37 AM
Hm, it's a close one but I pick the Gweilo - www.gweilodiaries.com. Honourable mention to Simon World.
Posted by Fabian at December 2, 2004 10:25 AM
i vote hemlock for best hk blog. as i understand it i can not vote for you simon is that right? can i vote for you in another category.
please also remove shandyman from the voting (i think only my mum would vote for me anyhow to be honest, and even that would require a bribe). My sporadic rants about women and flagrant plagarisms are just not worthy.

I nominate BIG WHITE GUY - for the most boring blog that is!

I nominate -
1) Fumier (http://fumier.typepad.com/)
2) Yoga Yuga (http://www.yogayuga.com/)
Well, in fact I nominate all the other Hong Kong blogs not nominated above. That is, if I can do that.
However, please do not nominate See Lai (and Nude King) for this year's award. Mainly because after about one month, See Lai will no longer be a blog but a web site (and I may not be the owner anymore).
Many thanks in advance and I wish all the best to all the participants.
Cheers!

Yeah, Hemlock's pretty good. But he never posts any funny animal pictures, which kind of spoils the fun for me. I'm voting for the Big White Guy.
Posted by Harry Hutton at December 6, 2004 09:49 AM
By the way, best Vietnam blog? Who the fuck has an opinion on best Vietnam blog?
Gonna spoil my ballot on that one. Or vote for the funniest name.

I'd give a tertiary nomination for Gweilodiaries, but it seems to have fallen off the face of the earth. Anyone know what happened to him?
