Ownership follow-up
Following up from my previous post on the woman who refused a C-section that would have saved one of her babies' lives, there comes more from The Smoking Gun. There's been some lively debate on this one and many are rushing to this woman's defence, but on the face of it there remains a good case that she was culpably responsible for the death of the baby. posted by Simon on 03.16.04 at 08:06 AM in the![]() ![]()

An interesting comparison as brought up on another blog... what if a father refused to donate a kidney to save the life of his child, and the child died as a result? The father would not be responsible for the death in the eyes of the law. posted by: Michael on 03.16.04 at 08:21 AM [permalink]Also, there are no penalties that I know of for women or men that smoke in the presence of their children, despite the known adverse effects. posted by: Michael on 03.16.04 at 08:24 AM [permalink](In any debate regarding reproductive issues, I can't help thinking that it would short-circuit a lot of arguments if humans were like rabbits, and could simply re-absorb unborn children during pregnancy if they felt so inclined). posted by: Michael on 03.16.04 at 08:32 AM [permalink]I think there's also a case that she is a nutball and needs some psychiatric help. posted by: Jim on 03.17.04 at 05:04 AM [permalink]![]() |
